Adult Discipleship

All throughout the year, FRCZ offers a number of ways for adults to journey down the road of discipleship, including educational classes and serving opportunities. Current and ongoing opportunities are listed below; contact the church office (616-772-9129) or the facilitators listed below for more information. 

Fall 2018 Adult Discipleship Opportunities


"Listening Across Generations"

Sundays, 10:00-10:45 am

8 weeks, starting September 23

Location: Family Life Center

Facilitators:  Noah Prins and Steve Hulst

We are a church that values being intergenerational, but we need to back up our words and intentions with action. This class will be a practical way to encourage people from all generations to keep reaching toward one another with love. If you would like to be a part of this discussion, sign up in the sanctuary. Identical classes will be offered on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, so come when you are able.

Fellowship Class

Sundays, 10:00-10:45 am

Starting September 16

Location:  Room 200 (upper level)

Facilitator: Roger Kleinheksel and others

Join a group of older adults as we worship, dig into the Bible, and enjoy fellowship together.



Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 pm

6 weeks, starting November 7

Location: Room 208- South

Facilitators:  Gord Poest

This class will explore the first 11 chapters of Genesis- comparing the secular views of creation and the age of the earth with the biblical views of these issues. We will discover how a literal interpretation of Genesis can explain any events that secular scientists use to refute the events of Genesis and will attempt to answer some of the often-asked questions about Genesis.

Women’s Bible Study

Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 pm

Starting September 19

Location:  Room 208- North

Facilitator:  Nancy Ruster

This year's study will be based on Seamless by Angie Smith, which will help us understand the Bible as one complete story. Sign up in the lobby, and contact Nancy Ruster for more information.

“Men’s Life- Discussion/Study”

Every other Wednesday morning, 6:00-7:00 a.m.

Location:  Russ’ East Town

Facilitator:  Mike Morren

You are invited to join with men from their 20’s to the ‘last quartile of life’ in a relaxed time of discussion over breakfast.  Conversation is based on various books written by Christian men.  This time of fellowship will enable you to grow deeper in your walk with Jesus and other guys, and discover the support you need to face the issues of daily life. JOY GROUP (Just Older Youth)

For those who are 60+ years young, the JOY Group provides a great opportunity for fellowship with regularly scheduled outings and events. Sign up information will be announced in the bulletin.
