First Church was founded in 1847 and exists to bring people to saving faith in Jesus Christ and to make disciples that make disciples.
For over 150 years, the people of First Church have been striving to know God and to make Him known in our families, our community, and our world. We reflect on the changes God has brought us through as we've adapted His mission to the world around us, and we look forward to the new challenges and opportunities that are to come.
First Church is part of the Reformed Church in America and, therefore, our theology is based on a reformed interpretation of Scripture. The essence of reformed theology is summarized in four documents: The Heidelberg Catechism, The Canons of Dort, The Belgic Confession, and The Belhar Confession. Periodically, sermon messages and teaching topics are based on these standards or expressions of faith.
If you would like to know more about our history, our theology, or our mission, any of our pastors would be happy to grab a cup of coffee and chat any time!
