First Reformed Church exists to bring people to saving faith in Jesus Christ by making disciples that make disciples.
Seeking and Restoring Broken Lives
We value the hurting and broken people in this world, and we believe that it is our mission to bring Christ's hope, love, and salvation to all people. We live this out through our support of numerous local and global missionaries and ministries. We strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we serve our neighbors and share the good news.
Growing Into God's Design
We value discipleship, and we strive to model our lives after Christ's example. This is carried out in our strong commitment to a vibrant ministry to children and youth, as well as educational and service opportunities for adults of all ages.
Connecting in Authentic Community
God created us to walk through life in community. Our goal is be a church family in which people are immersed in meaningful, life-giving relationships and continually inviting others to enter in.
Pursuing God Through Continual Worship
We recognize that worship is not just what happens on Sunday morning, but encompasses all of life. We desire for people to worship God with their lives by loving Him and sharing that love with others. Our Sunday morning gatherings exist first to glorify God, then to encourage and lift one another up. If people are encouraged in their faith, they will joyfully carry that out into everyday life. To effectively share the gospel of Jesus Christ, we need to worship in many contexts and in community with others.
Established in 1847 by Zeeland's first Dutch settlers, First Reformed Church has a long history our community. We value the legacies of faith within our church family and we are eagerly stepping into God's future for us with each changing generation. We appreciate the unique experiences, gifts, and learning opportunities that people of all ages and life stages bring to our church family.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and that he lived, died, and rose again. Christ's resurrection is the reason for the hope that we have, and we are eager to share this good news!
As part of the Reformed Church in America, there are statements (such as The Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed) that describe our faith, and statements of unity (such as the Heidelberg Catechism and the Confession of Belhar) that describe the beliefs of our denomination.
